31 Years--The Never Better has no limit on the Better
For all of you that are married; do you remember running into that special someone? You woke up one day finding your every thought and your every act was centered on him or her. You had to have a picture so you could just sit back and gaze starry eyed at it and let the day dreams flow. And when you took a minute to examine your heart you found your life was anew and alive--full of excitement beyond your wildest dreams.
I remember. It was a good while ago, and 31 years ago today I married that special someone. The blessing that my wife Lisa has been to me, and of this I'm certain, cannot be measured in this miniscule earthly sojourn. She's made my life complete bearing four children that have led to seven grandchildren, and three fantastic children in law. Truly my family of 16 and growing is my supreme source of joy and fulfillment now, and for eternity.
She's enriched my life, gave it the touch that can only be done by a daughter of God. She's helped me all along the way in every aspect--the heart of our home, my helpmeet, my strength, and my solace. She's fought for me, wept for me, anguished for me, rejoiced for me, and strengthened me.
She has instilled into my being, that the union of a man and a woman is central in our Heavenly Father's eternal plan for his children, and that man and woman are so much the better because of that divine and sacred relationship.
There are a number of women that have been a tremendous blessing in my live besides my sweet companion--my daughters, and daughter in law, my mother, and sisters, and my co-workers.
I know women are daughters of Almighty God. They are blessed with the greatest power granted to the offspring of deity--that of granting an earthly body to the spirit children of God. They are, in every sense, divine in nature. They have an innate ability to nurture, care, comfort, mourn for others. They give of their time to love, to build, and on and on of these Christ-like attributes. These gifts carry with them a prodigious amount of courage, patience, endurance, and fortitude.
They are smart and capable. They can handle all sorts of information coming at them from many different directions at the same time. They can go to work and still assist, comfort, direct and solve the needs and problems of each of their children.
They think with their hearts--forever tender--endowed with an abundance of charity.
I am keenly aware that daughters of God can stumble and falter, and diminish these God-given gifts that hopefully will someday be theirs, but this is the view I have of them.
I see just one solution for me and any man for that matter. Try with all our might to be worthy of such a person. The best counsel to accomplish this is to heed the teachings in the scriptures--Jesus speaking. "What manner of men ought ye to be? Verily I say unto you, even as I am."
Wow, what a lofty goal! Completely out of reach unless we yield to the enticing of the Holy Ghost, and put off the natural man, humble ourselves, repent, and become as little children. Relying on Christ's atonement, his mercy and grace that gives hope and direction to a sinner such as I.
I'm forever grateful for my companion, and for every moment of the last 31 years. I have no question that the marriage relationship is the greatest blessing that can come into the lives of Heavenly Father's children. I hope the Lord will bless us with another 31. So, my thoughts for now are...NEVER BETTER!
