In God We Trust
When I was growing up,
I remember having read,
that our beloved constitution,
would one day hang by a thread.
I put the thought out of mind.
There's no credibility in this.
Our country is united and strong.
This silly notion, I would dismiss.
We American's loved our flag.
We pledged our allegiance true.
With tears running from our eyes,
we saluted the red, white, and blue.
The memories of battles fought,
the blood, the loss, the sacrifice,
to form a more perfect union,
we'd not have to fight for this--twice.
We knew that the God of Heaven,
preserved us in this great cause.
We worshiped him, praised him, loved him--
he snatched us from socialism's jaws.
But with each passing day,
more and more people waver,
from the truths and liberty,
that once were ours to savor.
Many of our countries leaders,
once true, devoted, and strong,
now say our constitution
once preserved by God is . . . wrong.
In horror we watch them take the stand,
our constitution to uphold,
but in their hearts their secret plan,
our freedom and liberty they've sold.
Their promises are empty.
Their policies are flawed.
They rob us of the will to thrive.
They strike at our faith in God.
They gather countless numbers,
to conquer any who oppose,
and make them bow before their king,
or life and limb they will dispose.
But we don't fear their numbers.
We don't fall for bribes and lies.
For as Elisha told the servant,
our countless numbers fill the skies
In God We Trust, our battle cry.
He brought freedom to us before.
Tis a shame we did not learn,
from the revolutionary war.
But fight we must this one last time.
Prophets of old do attest.
That those who fight the lamb of God,
will be defeated in their quest
It's heartbreaking to fight again.
A bloody conflict we once won.
But this time, war ends with peace and joy.
For God will send his beloved Son.
