Look to the Lord
When God through Moses delivered the children of Israel from bondage in Egypt, the way was not easy. As they journeyed they spoke out against God and Moses. " Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness?"
The answer was different than one would expect. Instead of calm soothing words from a loving Father in Heaven, fiery serpents were sent among the people. When they were bitten they would die. In answer to their petition God also commanded Moses to make a rod and mount a serpent on it. Moses did so and set it before the people. The labor they were to perform when they were bitten was simply to look upon it and they would be healed. If they did not, they would perish. The end result was those that looked to the Lord lived. They had a change of heart, and continued forth in truth.
It is no different today. The Apostle Paul prophesied in 2 Timothy 4: 3,4 "The time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; and they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables." Our Beloved Nation is turning. People again are speaking out against God and the Prophets. Their ears itch only for chaos. They interpret evil as good, and good as evil. There is so little of that simple faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Minimal effort to ponder, pray, and feel that still small voice of comfort and peace from God. They are ripening for The Lord to step in again.
Is our country lost? Is there no way through the relentless detractors? This path before us laced with thorns, pitfalls, snares, mists of darkness, and torrents by the wayside?
Of course there is. Our Heavenly Father is ever mindful of us. He sent us a Savior, even his Only Begotten Son. All we need to do is look to him! He knows every thorn, every pitfall, and every obstacle placed by Satan in our way.
Go to church. Live your religion. Ponder and Pray. Read the scriptures. Come unto Christ. Take upon yourselves his divine qualities of love, charity, kindness, forgiveness, tolerance, and in fine, everything uplifting and good. Seek to listen hear and feel the spirit of God. You will find the peace and comfort and a way through the thorns of this day. The truth will set you free.
I wish with every fiber of my being that the people of our great Nation would turn back to God. That when they are bitten by the plagues of modern day they will look to God and not parish. Rather, they will have a change of heart. Our Savior said it himself in Amos 5:4 "Seek ye me, and ye shall live."
