Our Mighty Youth
My life is different than most any other person. Each day I go to my place of employment"the Emergency Room. I rarely have a "normal day." Most every shift I witness the consequences of succumbing to Satan's temptations. They're heartbreaking. That which tugs at my heartstrings the most is the downward spiral of young men and women indulging in the improper use of social media, drugs and alcohol, sexual sins and others of Satan's vast repertuar of oppositions to God.
Often there is little or no support system for these youth. Where is the mom and dad, or at least a mom or a dad? But no, there were no proper values taught in their homes. No spiritual influence to allow them to behold the tender mercies and miracles of their Father in Heaven ' or put good works into action. We nurses frequently look at each other and shake our heads. What are we going to do for this child? Running him or her through the public behavior health system is our only choice.
My tears drip to my computer as I reflect on the horrors I've witnessed throughout my career. The youth in their downward spiral until they attempt or succeed at ended their mortal life. What a tragedy! And then the adults who succumb to Satan. They won't let go of the worldly lusts, and counterfeit arousals of sin. Their families are ripped apart, all of them suffering.
I cannot dwell on the scenes I've witnessed these thousands of times. I choose to reflect on the blessed and happy state of those that choose God and his righteousness. I have beheld the strength, peace and joy found in the family. The courage to move on, and the faith of knowing that all will work out through God their loving Father.
I cherish the thoughts that fill my heart and mind as I reflect on those that do unite in family, teach and learn wholesome values and act upon those values daily. They shield themselves from the fiery darts of the adversary with faith, hope, good works, integrity and truth. Just listen to this theme giving to the young women by a prophet of God.
I am a beloved daughter of Heavenly Parents, with a
divine nature and eternal destiny.
As a disciple of Jesus Christ, I strive to become like him.
I seek and act upon personal revelation and minister
to others in his holy name.
I will stand as a witness of God at all times,
and in all things and in all places.
As I strive to qualify for exaltation, I cherish the gift
of repentance and seek to improve each day.
With faith, I will strengthen my home and family,
make and keep sacred covenants, and receive the
ordinances and blessings of the holy temple.
The young men's theme is similar. How beautiful it is to see these young people going about their days helping and building others, enduring trials with faith in Jesus Christ and courageously keeping the commandments in a world spiraling away from this sacred doctrine. These youth speak to me with testimony and conviction. No one is going to stop them from preparing this world for the second coming of our Savior and Redeemer Jesus Christ. They confront Satan's tactics with power and authority from God. Through their prayer, study and faith they work miracles as a shining light to the world. They are on the Lord's errand and with their feet firmly planted in their Lord Jesus Christ they cannot fail.
Now that I've written this, I'm ready for another shift in the ER.
