Uplifting Music
I love inspirational music. I feel inspired when the words are a sermon that penetrates my soul. I' m awed by the instruments and the talent required to play them. And I' m dazzled by the arrangements that turn an ordinary song into one of beauty.
I know God appreciates the songs, even the wondrous praises sung unto him. As he said, "For my soul delighteth in the song of the heart; yea, the song of the righteous is a prayer unto me,"
I know he does, for his spirit permeates my heart when I listen to good music. As one song says, "You lift me up. "I feel invigorated and refresh--ready to accomplish great things. Many times when I was writing I'll Point to Heaven I was struck with writer's cramp. I figured out that I could usually get out of it by listening to my favorite inspirational songs.
When I think of many of my fondest memories, they involve singing and uplifting music. The Primary Songs I sang in church as a little boy. The songs and music I've listened to on long trips, and songs sung in huge choirs and congregations.
And finally, in a world of despair, corruption and chaos, how wondrous it would be to be able to hear and feels anthems of love and inspiration around the world. Could the hatred and corruption and sin continue? Surely not.
